WARNING: District Court’s Address and Judicial Officer Names Being Used in Scam; Letters from FDIC Legal Division from the Address of the Court are Invalid

Tuesday, February 13, 2024

The U.S. District Court - Eastern Missouri is aware that the Court’s address and Judicial Officer names are being used by an individual or individuals pretending to work for the FDIC, Legal Division – Office of Inspector General. The mailed documents (sample attached) set forth a spoofed opportunity to secure cash bail through an FDIC trust account and threaten arrest of the receiver. This is a scam. Federal courts will not serve a warrant or notify you of a warrant by e-mail, phone, or fax. Federal officials do not demand payment of money in lieu of being arrested. If you receive such notification, please provide a copy of the fraudulent documents including the Priority Mail receipt to MOEDml_ExecTeam@moed.uscourts.gov. We are working with federal officials to stop these harassing mailings as quickly as we can.
